How to Check Your CIBIL Score for Free (Official Ways, 2026)
Every Indian is entitled to a free full credit report and score once a year from each of the four credit bureaus. Here is how to get yours from CIBIL, Experian, Equifax and CRIF High Mark, safely.
You Do Not Need to Pay to See Your Score
Your CIBIL score decides whether a lender says yes and at what interest rate, so it is worth checking before you apply for any loan. The good news: you can see it for free, legally, straight from the source.
The RBI requires each of India's four credit bureaus — TransUnion CIBIL, Experian, Equifax and CRIF High Mark — to give every individual one free full credit report, including the score, once every calendar year. That means you can get up to four free reports a year, one from each bureau.
These rules and links were checked on 28 October 2026 against the bureaus' own websites and RBI releases. LoanServ is a loan facilitator, not a credit bureau — we never ask for your PAN or OTP to "check your score".
Is Checking Your Own Score Safe?
Yes. When you check your own score, it is a soft enquiry. It does not lower your score, however often you do it. Only a hard enquiry — a lender pulling your report because you applied for credit — can have a small effect, and only when several happen close together.
How to Get Your Free CIBIL Report
- Type www.cibil.com/freecibilscore into your browser yourself. Do not follow a link from an SMS, WhatsApp forward or ad.
- Create an account with your name, PAN, date of birth, mobile number and email, exactly as they appear on your PAN.
- Verify your identity with the OTP and the questions CIBIL asks.
- Skip the paid subscription offers. You do not need a plan to get your one free annual report.
- Open the report and save it as a PDF.
CIBIL counts the free report by calendar year, not twelve months from your last pull. If you used it on or after 1 January 2026, your next free report is available from 1 January 2027.
The Other Three Bureaus Are Free Too
Lenders do not all use CIBIL. Many banks and NBFCs also check Experian, Equifax or CRIF High Mark, and each bureau scores you with its own model, so your numbers can differ by a few points. Each bureau gives one free full report a year:
| Bureau | Official website |
|---|---|
| TransUnion CIBIL | cibil.com |
| Experian India | experian.in |
| Equifax India | equifax.co.in |
| CRIF High Mark | crifhighmark.com |
A simple habit: spread them out. Pull CIBIL in January, Experian in April, Equifax in July and CRIF in October, and you have a free look at your credit every quarter.
What to Look For in the Report
The score is only the headline. The report behind it is what lenders read:
- Personal details: your name, PAN, date of birth and addresses. A wrong PAN or a stranger's address can mean someone else's loan is mixed into yours.
- Accounts: every loan and credit card in your name. Look for accounts you do not recognise.
- Payment history: any month marked late, or written as "DPD" (days past due), that you know you paid on time.
- Status flags: words like "Written off" or "Settled" hurt your score for years. If a loan was fully paid, it should say "Closed".
- Enquiries: applications you did not make can be an early sign of identity misuse.
If you find a mistake, raise a dispute on the bureau's website. It is free. Our guide on how to improve your CIBIL score walks through the dispute process step by step.
Your Report Now Updates Faster
Lenders used to send updates to the bureaus once a month. The RBI moved this to every fortnight from January 2025, and in December 2025 announced a move to weekly reporting. In practice this means a loan you close or a dues payment you clear should show up in your report much sooner than before.
Watch Out for Fake "Free Score" Sites
Searching for a free score brings up many sites that are not bureaus. Some are genuine lenders or apps with a bureau tie-up, but some only want your PAN and phone number to sell to loan agents — or worse. Stay safe:
- Only enter your PAN on the four bureau sites above, or inside your own bank's app.
- Never share an OTP with anyone who calls you about your "score" or a "pre-approved loan".
- No genuine bureau or lender charges a fee to show you the free annual report.
- If you are unsure whether a lender is genuine, check it on the RBI's Sachet portal.
Score Looks Good? Put It to Work
A score of 750 or above usually gets you the best rates. If your score has improved since you took your current loan, you may be paying more than you need to:
- See what a lower rate saves you with our balance transfer savings calculator.
- Combine costly card dues into one cheaper EMI with the debt consolidation calculator.
- Read what counts as a good credit score and where your band sits.
